writing to change the world quote

on page 36 Pema Chodron is quotes this: "We are all a paradoxical bundle of rich potential that consists of both neurosis and wisdom."

I like this because it proves that everyone in the world has potential to show their wisdom and do anything.  Even under tight circumstances we can still over come the oppression in our lives.  And through our trials we can release our "rich potential" and fill the world with our ideas, and morals.

This is basically the american dream.  Coming out of hard trials and overcoming them no matter what gets in the way!

Summer time!!

The summer is sometimes Hot, Brutal, and not too fun.  Yet, most of the time I think of it as the best time of the year.  Summer is not necessarily my favorite season, but i'm definitly not complaining about the break we get off.  For me summer is spending all night with my friends, doing whatever we feel like doing.

I seem to notice that me and my friends go to buffalo wild wings a lot!  Over the summer we'll probably pick it up to going around once every week.  I don't think buffalo wild wings has the best food for you.  But it sure is delicious.  I think the best kind of sauce is their asian zing.  They have so many choices of sauces for your wings or burgers.
Another thing i enjoy doing over the summer is playing some ultimate frisbee.  This is basically like football, or soccer.  The main rule is that you cannot move once you have the frisbee.  So anyways, you pass the frisbee from player to player, hoping to make it to the goal. Yet, if the other team knocks the frisbee down, or even intercepts it, its their frisbee.

So many things are done, and can be done over the summer time.  I personally cannot wait until it comes around in a few weeks!!

What Drives Me?

Many things drive me to better myself....

In sports, the thing that drives me is the will to play the sport and win.  I am extremely competative at times and will  work outside  of the practice time just to improve my skills.  Yet, i don't only try to improve myself, yet also try and improve others.

While running, the thing that drives me are the friends i go along with.  They don't make running boring or tedious.  Instead we have a good time and could talk about anything.  We may even take running to another level and jump over obstacles or things like that.

In my education,  I havnt really found what drives me.  In grade school and high school i never was pushed to my full potential.  However, while in college i have realised that i need to do well!  So  suppose that I have driven myself to do a better job.

However, overall i believe that the one thing that drives me is God.  He always seems to be there and pushing me farther than anyone else ever does.  He also allows me to go to lengths in which i had never thought possible.

These are the things that drive me...

Music

I have been playing an instrument ever since i was in grade school.  I loved playing the trumpet because it was loud, and just felt right.  I played the trumpet up  until my 8t grade year, when i switched over to the euphonium.

The euphonium, is also know as a baritone.  This instrument is played exactly like a trumpet, however the mouth piece is much larger making it a tad bit easier to play.  It's shaped like a tuba, yet isn't that heavy.  All throughout high school I played this instrument.  Yet, my time with the euphonium came to an end as well.

After high school was over, i stopped playing concert music completely.  However, my time and experiences had not been forgotten.  My musical career is not over.  I am still playing but just on a different instrument, along with a different genre of music.

Now i've been experimenting with the guitar, bass, and even a little bit of drums.  My band and I do not perform a lot any more, however i still play by myself.

The time I spent in the concert band has made my guitar playing even easier.  Whenever I learn new things about the guitar, everything just seems to connect a little bit better.  Studying scales and arrangements in the concert band, made my mind open and realise that everything musical works in the same way.  I just hope to continue and learn all that is to be known about music.

Bye Bye Bin Ladin

Last night around 11 o'clock at night, President Barack Obama announced that the body of Osama Bin Ladin is in the hands of Americans.  Apparently yesterday, United States forces stormed the hotel in which Bin Ladin had been staying in, and under harsh condition had to take him out.  The took custody of his body and later did DNA testing to confirm that it was truly his body.

This is a huge deal, especially in the hearts of Americans, as well as many of countries.  Cheers by the white house gate, had gathered a crowd to celebrate the death of Bin Ladin.  The Face of terror has been taken down by the Americans.  I would say that 911 victims are the most grateful because they have receive a sense of closure.

However, as we Americans cheer today for the death of Bin Ladin, we will have to continue and keep struggling for the fight against terrorism.  The fight is far from over, and this could very well be only the beginning.  With Bin Ladin gone, it is thought that Al Qaeda is separated.  However, the threat is still out there and recruits are still coming in for Al Qaeda.

We can only hope that the United States and all of our allies, can take this advantage of Bin Ladin's death; and continue to pursue Al Qaeda, as well as any other terrorist organizations.

Blogs, Blogs, Blogs

When i think of blogs, i only seem to think of someone (like me) ranting on about whatever they want to talk about.  This is great, because it allows everyone to announce their ideas and morals.  The only problem is that those are the only kind of blogs i've ever seen.

I wish that i could see, not only someone ranting on about a subject, but several people discussing an issue.  I love to see debates, and arguements.  Hopefully through these arguements, people will not get overly offended and make a huge deal out of it; but I just truly want to be able to comment more than "great blog, you really did good."

I'm kind of getting bored with having the feeling that what i'm writing wont really do anything.  Yet, from debating blogs, everyone would join in and people's ideas would clash with each other.  I'm am going to try and make some of these blogs to hopefully spark peoples interests and bring life back into blogging!

My top 5

My top 5 drinks that I like...

1!  Tea- whether it's green, white, or even jasmine, tea is definitly one of my favorite drinks.  When it's icy cold it has just a super awesome taste, and when it's hot it just warms up your whole body with a natural type of feel.

2@ Juice- juice is usually good for you, and most of the time it tastes great to.  However, i could live with out cranberry juice.

3# aide's- poweraide, or gatoraide, I really like sports drinks too.  I know the are not very good for you at all, with there tons of sugar, as well as calories.  Yet, the electrolytes inside of them supposedly helps your body recouperate which everyone could use.

4$ Milk- I like milk out of a glass or out of a cereal bowl.  Milk is the first drink u have when your born and has plenty of calcium and things to make you grow.  chocolate, white, skim, or 2% i like them all.

5% Water- Usually water isn't the most likely choice for people, because it just has no taste; But when your done working out and your mouth is dry, begging for moisture.  I always run for the water, because it tastes so deliscious at that point.  It just seems to quinch your thirst so perfectly.

Those drinks are my top 5 picks..

Spring Break

Spring break came so fast, yet left  just as quickly.  I dont think that one week is enough to actually feel like a break.  For at least half of the spring break, i was working so it felt as if the whole day got taken away from me.  I truly only had 1 or 2 days truly for myself, and that just feels more like a weekend.

But maybe a week is a perfect amount of time; because then you dont get too lazy.  Yet, you still get a little break. I just think that the hardest part of the spring break is having to come back to school and start learning again.

So far coming back to school has seemed dreadful and i just want to go home ASAP everyday.  This nice weather is just pulling me away from all of the work i need to do.  Hopefully i don't get too distracted and start failing out!! :0

Cage The elephant concert!!

On Feb. 24 im going to the cage the elephant concert at the pageant in st. louis.  They are a band who i've only noticed a few years ago.  They have grown super popular since i heard there first hit, "aint no rest for the wicked"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HKtsdZs9LJo

For any of you who like alternative rock music, you should check them out.  I highly recommend them.  This will be my first time to the pageant so im pretty psyched!  Also one of my favorite bands will be performing there which makes it all even better.  I have heard that cage the elephant isn't as good performing live, but I think i'll be the judge of that.

PARKOUR!

Lately i have been training with some friends.  We have just been running around and trying get in shape for some parkour.  For those who dont know what that is just check this out...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WEeqHj3Nj2c

the definition of parkour is a utilitarian discipline based upon the successful, swift and energy-efficient traversing of one's surrounding environment via the practical application of techniques, based around the concept of self-preservation and the ability to help others.
I believe that this originated from some type of french army training.  I suppose that it was used to get to a tough place to be able to help a person out.  I am really not that sure, but i do know that parkour(free running) is pretty sweet and i am determined to learn it.
So far the only things i can do is jump from one little post to another but im learning everyday.  hopefully one day i will be as good as those in the video.

Me, Myself, and I

My name's Andrew Jonathon Wall Jr, I graduated from freeburg high school last year, and this is my second semester at swic.  I plan to pursue a secondary education degree and teach history.  History has always been a love of mine and i've always loved every detail of history lessons.
I also play guitar, bass, and a little desk drumming as a hobby and another love of mine.  I have known music my entire life.  From the radio playing in the car, to me playing on stage with my band.  Music has effected my life in a dramatic way, allowing me to think in different ways and become passionate about something.  I played the euphonium in the concert band at freeburg, but then I quit when I came to swic.
I mainly enjoy just spending time with friends and family pretty much all the time.  Yet, I also work, play music, and school it up. MLA right now.
